Plan to attend Chelsea’s live nativity on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. during Hometown Holidays, but dress warmly because it’s outside.

The nativity will take place on Park Street on the south side of First United Methodist Church adjacent to the library parking lot.

There will be live animals and hay bales for children to sit on, as a narrator reads the story of the birth of Christ and a choir sings traditional Christmas carols.

“If you have never been to a live nativity, the sight will take your breath away – better than any present you open,” said Deanna Robbins, organizer of the event.

The nativity  begins at 7:30 p.m. and there is a second one at 8 p.m., so people can pop in for a few minutes or stay for the entire event, Robbins said.

“In addition to the live animals and the Christmas choir singing traditional Christian Christmas carols, we have a beautiful adult cast,” she said.

There will be people from a number of local churches involved and about 200 people attended last year. The organizers are hoping to have 300 people attend this year.

This is a non-denominational and it’s free for everyone.
