Hometown Holiday: Plan your Friday fun

Hometown Holiday begins a week from today, Nov. 30, so mark your calendars and plan your evening while the whole family’s home for the long Thanksgiving weekend. 

Friday, Nov. 30

Kick-off Tree Lighting Ceremony & Santa Arrives

6-6:30 p.m. at Pierce Park, Main Street.

Santa makes his appearance escorted by the Chelsea Fire Department and lights the holiday tree to start the festivities. There will be music from Chelsea High School choirs.

Sit with Santa in Santa’s Workshop

6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Depot on Jackson Street. The event is free but there is a fee for photos with Santa. Kids can bring your list and sit with Santa, have photos taken, then make gifts in his workshop. This event is sponsored by the Chelsea Children’s Co-op.

Live Nativity Scene

7:30-8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church on Park Street across from Purple Rose Theater, adjacent to the Library lot. This free event features live animals and a Christmas choir.

Common Chords Concert

7- 8 p.m. at the McKune Room in the library. The Common Chords hand bell choir will perform a holiday concert with refreshments and it’s free.

Cookie Decorating

6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company.

Story Telling

6:30-8:30 p.m. at Farmer’s Supply on Jackson Street across from the Depot. Listen to Ms. Robin tell some of her favorite holiday stories for free.
