Sunday, Dec. 2 marks the third and final day of the 25th Annual Hometown Holiday this year.
As a finishing touch, there will be a community-wide service of Lessons and Carols at the Chelsea Retirement Community chapel beginning at 6:30 p.m.
A number of churches are participating in the special event including St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Paul UCC and St. Barnabas, as well as residents from CRC.
“Please plan to join us for this annual event that wraps up the Chelsea Hometown Holiday weekend with an opportunity to center ourselves in the Christian narrative of Christmas,” according to information about the event.
Visitors can listen to the traditional readings of scripture, interspersed with music provided by a variety of choirs from area congregations. Then join in some congregational singing of time-honored carols.
Following the service of Lessons and Carols, there will be time to visit and light refreshments.
Those attending can participate in the spirit of giving and assist Faith in Action, which helps local families in need.
Faith in Action is in need of the following items:
Shampoo and conditioner
Shaving cream and razors
Feminine hygiene items
Laundry soap
Kleenex
This annual event is sponsored by the Chelsea-Area Ministerial Association.
Here are the other events taking place on Sunday, Dec. 2
Giant Holiday Stocking Giveaway
11:30 a.m. at Chelsea McDonald’s on Main Street. There will be a drawing to win the 6’ tall stocking packed with donated items from local merchants and music provided by Chelsea choirs. Sponsored by the Chelsea McDonald’s.
Chelsea Chamber Players Holiday Concert (2 shows)
3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Chelsea First United Methodist Church on Park Street. These are free holiday performances by Chelsea’s Chamber Players with students from the Chelsea High School chamber orchestra.
Holiday Festival of Lessons & Carols
6:30 p.m. at the Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel, at the end of West Middle Street. Churches of Chelsea come together for a magical evening of holiday music.
On both Friday and Saturday nights from 6-8 p.m., Main Street will be lit by luminaries thanks to the Cub, Boy and Girl Scouts.
