Ideas for MLK’s birthday were discussed at the Nov. 6 Chelsea Human Rights Commission meeting.
Anyone who has ideas for activities for the Jan. 20, 2025 federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is asked to contact the HRC. At the Nov. 6 meeting, HRC members approved the creation of a work group to focus on MLK day events. Members will do some research and report back to the work group in the next few weeks.
In honor of November being designated Civility Month in Chelsea, members of the HRC will be distributing stickers to some of the merchants in Chelsea.
Also discussed at the meeting was a review of the Title VI Non-Discrimination Plan work session that took place Oct. 29. A follow up with Chelsea City Attorney Mariah Fink will be scheduled to finalize the revised language for the ordinance.
The HRC meets next on Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.
