Chelsea’s Pride March will be on Saturday, June 3, with folks assembling at Pierce Park at noon.
The Chelsea Human Rights Commission approved contributing $100 for materials and supplies for the march. St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will provide the facilities for the lunch gathering following the march.
Also at the meeting, HRC members discussed the benefits of having a template for responding to complainants. They talked about what can be provided for complainants before they actually make a complaint to help them with the process and agreed that they need to make it clear to complainants what areas the nondiscrimination ordinance addresses.
After reviewing the nondiscrimination ordinance, the responsibilities of the HRC, and the complaint procedure with Chelsea City Attorney Mariah Fink at the HRC meeting in March, she will be providing her recommendations in the near future.
HRC members talked about managing the commission’s archive and agreed they need to make clear the distinction between drafts and final versions.
There is currently an opening on the HRC. For more information, go to https://www.city-chelsea.org/boards-committees-commissions.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the HRC is on June 7, 2023 at 7 p.m.
