Jan. 24: Chelsea Area Historical Society Annual Meeting, East Middle Street Presentation

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bill O’Reilly for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Area Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and a presentation about the historic homes on East Middle Street on Monday, Jan. 24 beginning at 7 p.m. at The Depot, 125 Jackson St.

The meeting will be held in person and well as via Zoom.

After a two-year in-person absence due to COVID, the meeting and presentation is open to all current members and the community.

We realize that sadly, COVID numbers are still very concerning so we will require all in-person attendees to be masked at all times (except for the speakers who will be a minimum of 12 feet from the audience). And all seats will be set a safe distance from each other.

If you wish to join us via Zoom, you need to send an email to [email protected] to request a Zoom link to join remotely.

The meeting will open with about 15 minutes of “business” and then move to the presentation.

The elected positions of the CAHS Board are 2-year terms and are divided, so half the positions are up for election one year, and the other half the next year.  This year the positions of president and treasurer are up for election.

The presentation is a follow up on last month’s walking home tour with a detailed look at the rich history of the homes on the first block of East Middle Street. The historical society considers this to be a first in a series of detailed research and presentations on many other blocks as they continue to build on the home histories in our collections.
