Learn all about owls during an upcoming Owl Prowl at the Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Bundle up and head outdoors for a nighttime adventure and meet at the center at 17030 Bush Road.

You can meet other like-minded night owls and an interpreter for a walk through the woods at the center, according to information about the event. Plan to spend about 30-45 minutes calling these magnificent creatures while keeping your eyes and ears open.

Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather as the event will take place rain or shine. Bring something to drink, binoculars, and a flashlight or a miner’s light.

Pre-registration is not required, and the program is free of charge; however, a Recreation Passport is required for vehicles entering the state parks and recreation areas.

The Recreation Passport is $10 Recreation Passport ($5 for motorcycles) when renewing your license plate through the Secretary of State (by mail, kiosk, online at www.expresssos.com or at branch offices).

It affords Michigan motorists access to state parks, recreation areas, state forest campgrounds, non-motorized state trailhead parking and state boat launches. In addition, Recreation Passport holders can get savings at businesses and retailers that participate in the passport perks discount program.

A Recreation Passport is valid until the next license plate renewal date.
