David C. Bloom & Friends bring their signature Jazz & Blues to the Collins Stage at Sounds & Sights Thursday, July 18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Chelsea singer David Bloom has never missed a Sounds & Sights season.
“Sounds & Sights is our favorite gig of the summer,” says Bloom in a press release. “We look forward to grooving with Chelsea’s warm and welcoming audience every year.”
The band features Nathan Flanders on keyboards, Jonathan Hammonds on bass, Annie Hayes on drums, and Peter Klaver on sax.
“We’re thrilled that Chelsea’s own Amelia Nelson will be joining us this year,” Bloom said. “She’s got terrific range and a lot of soul. I sang at her parents’ wedding, so she kinda owes me.”
For 2024, Bloom built a set of jazz and blues songs from the last 100 years of American music, from W.C. Handy to Maroon 5, with an emphasis on music from the 50s and 60s.
“The set list spotlights Dave Brubeck, with several songs from his west-coast cool-jazz book,” Bloom said. “These charts really give the band room to explore and jam.”
Come on out to the Collins off Main – the downbeat is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18.
