July 18: Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights

Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Rick Taylor Real Estate – Reinhart Realtors continues its free summer concert series Thursday, July 18 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Professional artists perform at ten staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea showcasing music, face painting, and balloon twisting.

The diverse music line-up features regional artists, including singer/songwriters, Chelsea Paddock & Sarah Grace Cattell, performing at the new Palmer Commons Stage on Main Street. Railcar Graffiti blend Old time American and Celtic music at South Street.

Michigan natives, Annie & Rod Capps, at Katie’s Korner on the Library Lawn. Songs about broken things and poignant little ponderings are delivered with a rootsy vibe, a touch of twang and a soulful groove.

The Blue Rays Trio perform an eclectic mix of blues & roots at Sylvan Courtyard while DownRiver Dan heads to East Middle Street to showcase his blues guitar chops.

Bluegrass Country group, The North Creek Fiddlers, return to the Glazier Building, and the “Etherial Gypsy” band, Dede & the Dream, perform a mix of folk and jazz at the Clocktower Gazebo.

There is something for the whole family including The Face Painting Robot at the Clocktower Courtyard Stage, and balloon animals created by 3 Generations Entertainment at the Main Street Alley.

The “Sights” of Sounds and Sights include the “How To Chalk” seminars each week beneath the Clocktower. Everyone is invited to transform the pavement into colorful works of art, this week the focus is Dinosaurs. Visitors are also invited to explore the new installation of SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 13 juried sculptures.

Chelsea Area Festivals & Events is a not-for-profit organization that enriches Chelsea, and the surrounding communities, by promoting the presentation of and participation in quality performing and visual arts throughout the year.
