Start the Independence Day holiday weekend off at the Saturday Chelsea Farmers Market.

The strawberries keep coming and the season is fleeting so hurry and pick up a few quarts.

You’ll also find fresh squash and various greens as well as plants and flowers.

If you like the scent of lavender, stop by the Lavender for Learning booth. Pick up a bouquet of lavender and/or a sachet, and your donation will benefit students from Ukraine attending Carlton College like Marta, who will be at the market.

Freshly baked breads, muffins, cookies and cakes will also be for sale, and artisans will be selling paintings, pottery, bird houses, and more.

This week’s music will be provided by the Bob Skon Trio, who will play folk, rock, and a touch of jazz.

The Saturday market is located at Palmer Commons on Main Street and runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

There is a new regional (Chelsea, Grass Lake, Manchester and Stockbridge) food assistance program to help get healthy market food on the tables of those in need. It’s aimed at folks who don’t quite meet SNAP criteria. Be sure to inquire at the market.
