Every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m., the Chelsea Farmers Market is open at the Chelsea State Bank parking lot at the intersection of M-52 and Old US 12.

There are numerous fruits and vegetables now in season that include zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, green beans, raspberries, blueberries and cherries.

One of the Wednesday vendors selling vegetables, herbs, and plants is Needle-Lane Farms located in Tipton, Michigan.

Needle-Lane Farms started in 2003 and is a compost based, no spray farm that follows organic standards with the goal of producing healthy food.

More than 200 varieties of annual and perennial flowers, herbs, vegetables and trees are raised on Needle-Lane Farms’ five acres. They have three heated greenhouses and seven unheated hoop houses.

You’ll also find breads, cakes, and cookies at the Wednesday farmers market as well as cheese, meat, eggs, and honey.

Among the vendors at this season’s Wednesday market are Jacob’s Fresh Farm Shares, K’s Acres, Needle-Lane Farms, Pregitzer Farm, Bordine Farms, Golden Fleece Farms, Marks Farm, Kapnick Orchards, Affeathermations, LA Baguette, Stone Hearth Bakery, Awakened Provisions, Sweet & Salty (cookies), Smellz So Good (candles), and Jam Man.
