Be sure to check out one of the most popular areas of Chelsea’s Sounds & Sights Festival — the KidZone — on July 26-27.

Sponsored by Chelsea Teddy Bear Company, there will be activities for children of all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Located behind the Clocktower complex, there will be free bounce houses, Little Conductor train rides, Chelsea Fire Authority demonstrations, bubble blowing stations, and Chelsea Lanes games.

On Friday, July 26:

  • The Teddy Bear Company will host a mini obstacle course at 10 a.m. and give away mini Frisbees to the first 50 participants.
  • ATA Martial Arts instructors and students will demonstrate safety and Taekwondo skills from 10-11 a.m.
  • The Kerfuffles, a kids music band, will perform music-based storytelling and songs ranging from traditional funny and engaging originals from 11-noon. Kids of all ages can sing, dance and experience the music.
  • Pure Imagination Magic Show will take place from noon-1 p.m. Trademarked as ‘America’s Magical Funnyman’, Chris Linn’s show blends family friendly comedy with wacky magic.
  • Closing the fun-filled day is Crazy Craig’s Juggling Act from 1-2 p.m. Craig Andrew Wise is known to juggle just about anything including pins, balls, fruit and even stuffed animals while riding his unicycle.

On Saturday, July 27:

  • Kids are invited to dress up their pets in sports-themed costumes and take part in the annual Pet Parade. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Chelsea Farmer’s Supply, located across from The Depot. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and for more information, call 475-1777.
  • The KidZone will feature Mad Science of Detroit, which takes the stage at 11 a.m.
  • Colors the Clown at noon.  Colors and her animals perform silly, fun tricks fueled with magical surprises.
  • Wildlife Safari from 1-2 p.m.  Based in Michigan, the Wildlife Safari Company started in the early ’90’s with a mission to develop exciting hands-on, natural science programs that perfectly combine education and entertainment. The audience will interact with a large variety of animals from around the world and might include an African serval, Burmese python or Australian kangaroo.
  • In addition to the stage performers, there will be appearances throughout the day by the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company mascots. Free popcorn and slushy’s will be offered inside the Teddy Bear Factory, and Ken Yenke, author and authority on Teddy bears, will give free factory tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
