Now in its fifth week, Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights continues its abbreviated free summer concert series on Thursday, July 29 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Professional artists perform at seven staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea showcasing music, chalk art, and circus acts.

This week the family-friendly entertainment features Detroit Circus at Palmer Commons. The dazzling circus-style performers specialize in high flying aerial antics, fire dancing, stilt acrobatics, contortion, juggling, and a variety of circus sideshow acts.

All ages are invited to create colorful works of art at Palmer Commons. This week the “How to Chalk” theme is “Video Games,” led by professional artist Chris Monaghan.

The stellar music line-up includes rhythm and blues-rock band Mo’ Easy at Katie’s Korner on the library lawn, and The Fossil Creek Band at South Street.  The Fossil Creek Band or “Creekers” are known for their fun-loving, energetic performing style, tight harmonies, and original bluegrass tunes.

The East Middle Street stage features Brian Brickley & the Martindales with a mix of blues and rock. Just past the railroad tracks, the Elvis tribute band, The Devil Elvis Show, performs a rock revue at the Glazier Building.

Around the corner, Ellis & M.E. perform eclectic acoustic at the Clocktower Gazebo. Their groove comes from a creative blend of wood & strings, innovative songwriting, tight vocal harmonies. At The Grateful Crow restaurant, Jacob Sigman performs soul and pop.

While strolling downtown, visitors can explore the new installation of SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 16 juried sculptures.

Chelsea Area Festivals & Events is a not-for-profit organization that enriches Chelsea, and the surrounding communities, by promoting the presentation of and participation in quality performing and visual arts throughout the year.
