July 4: don’t miss the Chelsea American Legion Post 31 chicken BBQ

One of the highlights of Chelsea’s Fourth of July festivities is the annual American Legion Post 31 chicken BBQ.

Volunteers begin serving the chicken, baked beans, roll and butter, cole slaw and chips at 11 a.m. and continue to sell these delicious $10 meals until all 500 dinners are sold out.

Pending a monsoon, the BBQ will take place for the 49th year. It is organized by Squadron 31 of the Sons of the American Legion, and takes place at the Legion Post, 1700 Ridge Road in Sylvan Township.

If you haven’t tried these dinners, you are really missing out on a terrific tradition and they are available to eat there or take home.

Then head to the American Legion Post 31 chicken BBQ where chicken dinners will be available beginning at 11 a.m. until all 500 chicken dinners are sold out.

Beverages and desserts are an additional cost while they last.

The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to assist area veterans.
