June 27: Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights

Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Rick Taylor Real Estate – Reinhart Realtors continues its free summer concert series Thursday, June 27 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Professional artists perform at ten staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea showcasing music, magic, theater, and vintage baseball.

The diverse music line-up features several Michigan artists, including acoustic guitarist and vocalist aL Jacquez performing at the new Palmer Commons Stage on Main Street. The Blue Rays bring their unique blend of traditional and modern blues, funk and rock to South Street.

Progressive rock band, Cat Lung take the stage at East Middle Street with their upbeat and adventurous grooves while Mixed Nuts perform Americana Folk music at Sylvan Courtyard.

Monster Country band, Fangs & Twang, unleash their wild musicality at the Glazier Building and at the Clocktower Gazebo, Five Miles More perform their renditions of straight-ahead jazz classics.

There is something for the whole family including Alexander the Magician at the Kids Courtyard, and balloon animals created by 3 Generations Entertainment at the Main Street Alley.

The Chelsea District Library hosts Korner Stage: Ring of Steel from 7-8 p.m. at Katie’s Korner on the Library Lawn. Actors put on an exciting, high action performance of theatrical hand-to-hand combat and sword fighting.

The Monitors Base Ball Club of Chelsea bring 1860 back to life in the form of lively, competitive and gentlemanly match games. Watch this exciting game of Civil War Era Baseball at the Clocktower Complex.

The “Sights” of Sights & Sounds include the free “How To Chalk” seminars each week beneath the Clocktower. Everyone is invited to transform the pavement into colorful works of art, this week the focus is Jungle. Visitors are also invited to explore the new installation of Sculpture Walk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 13 juried sculptures.

Chelsea Area Festivals and Events is a not-for-profit organization that enriches Chelsea, and the surrounding communities, by promoting the presentation of and participation in quality performance and visual arts throughout the year.
