(Chelsea Update would like to thank Virginia Krueger for the information in this story.)
Chelsea District Library planned to host Jacopo Giacopuzzi and his sister Maddalena for the fourth annual Music in the Air concert in June.
When the coronavirus forced the closure of the library, eliminated international travel, and required social distancing, we feared that the concert would have to be canceled. And indeed, it did require some imagination.
But, we are thrilled to announce an exclusive video performance by crowd favorite Jacopo Giacopuzzi.
Giacopuzzi has enchanted us with his piano virtuosity for the past three summers. He has performed at major festivals and venues, lectured, served on competition juries, and won numerous competitions throughout the United States and Italy. Jacopo studied at Liszt Hochschule, the Conservatory of Verona, and the International Piano Academy of Imola. He is a graduate in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California.
Last year’s attendees described the music as “extremely delightful!”, “Can’t be better!” “Marvelously talented”, “Truly mind-expanding”, “Fantastic!”, and “Just keep Jacopo coming!”. Good news! Jacopo is coming virtually for summer of 2020 and will return to the Reading Garden in 2021.
So, grab a device and take it outside for an open-air performance, or enjoy the talent and personality of Giacopuzzi from the comfort of your home.
This exclusive video concert will be released on Saturday, June 6 at noon at www.chelseadistrictlibrary.org/mita.
Have a prior commitment? Don’t worry.
The performance video will remain available to CDL for one month after its release.
Music in the Air was conceived to make classical music accessible to those who have little musical background and to delight the most tenured enthusiasts.
The library is grateful to Jacopo Giacopuzzi for helping us to fulfill that mission and look forward to enjoying his soul soothing melodies.
