Mark Randisi and The Motor City Horns will perform as part of the Kaleidoscope Concert series on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. at the WSEC auditorium, 500 Washington St.

Members of the Motor City Horns have played with Bob Seger, Yo-Yo Ma, Justin Timberlake, The Temptations, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

The concert is free, but donations are requested to help fund the concert series in 2014.

“We really need to fill as many seats as we can,” said Shawn Personke, director of activities and public relations for Silver Maples of Chelsea. “All sizes of donations are encouraged from $5 to $100.”

Personke said in a press release, “Whether accompanied by big band music or a full string orchestra, a Mark Randisi concert is pure magic.”

Whether performing with world-class musicians, singing with accompaniment by a single piano, or a 63-piece orchestra, Randisi wows the crowd with his entertaining personality, sense of humor, and rich voice, she said.

Originally funded by the Chelsea Community Foundation, the series is now funded through donations from community members and businesses.

The April concert is sponsored by Silver Maples and the Chelsea Senior Center and this one is a “please donate” concert to keep the music playing.

“Many of our other concerts are funded through donations from local businesses like Chelsea Lumber Company and Ferguson & Widmayer PC,” Personke said.  Others are funded through private donations from people such as Kathleen Griffiths and Michael and Ann Feeney.

“We’re really grateful because it’s only through these donations that we can offer these free concert series,” Personke said.

Tickets are not needed for the concert and representatives from both the Chelsea Senior Center and Silver Maples will be on hand to accept donations to help fund the concert series through 2014.
