Lacrosse: Chelsea-Lincoln tie in weather-shortened game

ChelseaBulldogsLogoGoldTrimWeather delayed the start of the Chelsea-Lincoln varsity lacrosse game on April 17, and following a 45-minute delay, there was virtually no warm up for either team.

Chelsea Head Coach Joe Koengeter said the Bulldogs got off to a slow start as the field conditions were very slippery.

Lincoln took the early lead, but Chelsea battled back to tie the game 3-3 at half time.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs took a 6-3 lead gaining the momentum going into the 4th quarter.

Lincoln scored on a defensive break down and had a very talented face-off player who won the ensuing face-off leading to another goal 20 seconds later.

Lincoln would get another goal about a minute and a half later to tie the game.

“Chelsea weathered the momentum storm and had some good offensive looks but could not convert,” the coach said.

The game was called with about 3:45 left in the 4th quarter due to lightning.

“I was very glad that we weathered the storm and fought back to not give up any more goals in the 4th quarter, but disappointed that the game was called short as it would have been a great finish by both teams,” xx said.
