Lane Animal Hospital is now offering a safe, online way to get your pet’s medications, food, toys, and other items.
Www.MyVetStoreOnline.com, clients will be able to order medications and pet food, both prescription and over-the-counter, and even toys, treats and other items for their furry friends.
“The whole team is ecstatic about this fantastic addition to what we can offer our clients,” says Rachel Michalsen, practice manager.
All prescription items require doctor approval, and orders will be completed within 24 hours. Monthly automatic refills can also be requested.
“The most exciting thing about our online store is the selection – we have more prescriptions available than ever before, plus a whole selection of other things our pet owners have wanted,” Michalsen says.
If you are having difficulty remembering to refill your pet’s medications monthly, there’s also a “Try the Easy Dose It!” feature. This allows you to request an automatic monthly refill to be mailed to you for up to one year, and can be cancelled at any time. For example, it’s a great way to purchase heartworm preventative monthly, and never miss a dose.
“Most clients don’t realize this, but many of the big- name online sites aren’t licensed by the State of Michigan,” she says.
Clients will be asked to read and sign a waver, if they chose to use another online source for medications with the launch of Lane Animal Hospital’s online store.
“We have had the unfortunate incidence, more than once, with some of those big name online pharmacies filling prescriptions without the doctor approval. It’s not just scary, that’s illegal – and potentially dangerous for our client’s pets,” Michalsen says.
If weights for a pet are accidentally mixed up for an order for a simple flea and tick prevention, it can be problematic.
“We wanted a resource that we felt confident in the product they provide to our patients, as well as convenience,” Michalsen says.
You will be able to receive medications through the mail and give it to your pet the same day.
Also, if you are headed south for the winter and need a refill for your pet, you can change the shipping address for the season and have it sent to your door.
Shipping is free on all orders over $38, or an $8 flat fee is applied for smaller orders. Shipping is included on diets and Easy Dose It! items. Shipping is also fast, an estimated 3-5 days.

“Kong toys, household pet cleaners, treats, Thundershirts for anxiety, and even leashes and harnesses,” she says, “It’s a one-stop online shop for our LAH clients.”
Lane Animal Hospital has been a part of the Chelsea community for more than 100 years, and some clients drive quite a distance for their pet’s veterinary care. “We understand it’s not always reasonable to drive out to our office to pick up a chronic medication monthly,” she says, adding, “Our online pharmacy, we hope, will solve that and give our clients, some peace of mind too.”
As of April 1, Lane will no longer accept or approve any outside online pharmacy prescription calls or faxes. Clients who wish to continue to use other online pharmacies will need to come into the office for a physical written prescription from their pet’s doctor and sign the waiver ensuring they understand the risks.
“Clients who make an online store purchase can also bring in their first invoice (or show it on their phone) and Lane will give them $5 off their next visit,” she says.
The BesafeRX is a campaign that started in 2016 by the FDA to warn consumers of the dangers of online pharmacies.
“Unfortunately,” she says, “We know all medications, human and veterinary, are only becoming more and more expensive year after year. We are very sensitive to this for clients and wanted to be able to provide them a safer alternative then what we’ve seen them using recently.”
