Let your voice be heard: additional Chelsea Zoning Ordinance public engagement

More than 150 people participated in the recent community engagement session held at the Saturday Aug. 1. Farmer’s Market, but if you weren’t able to attend, there are additional opportunities.

Julia Upfal, Chelsea’s community development director, said there is another opportunity for public engagement online, which is open to everyone.

Going forward, we are doing online engagement, open to anyone. The online engagement has been posted to the City of Chelsea’s website. The new Zoning Ordinance will have a huge impact on local development.

In Spring of 2020, the City of Chelsea began updating its Zoning Ordinance based on the City’s 2019 Master Plan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) guidelines.

As part of this process, the city will be conducting online public engagement to workshop the proposed zoning districts and regulations.
