Letter to the Editor: Ross Greenstein is Unfit for Office

Dear Editor:

Chelsea School board candidate Ross Greenstein claims he will stop bullying in our schools if elected. However, I have done my research and I believe that Mr. Greenstein poses a threat rather than a solution.

According to Washtenaw County Sheriff police reports (available through a FOIA) Mr. Greenstein threatened a parking lot construction worker with a gun. Why? Because the man resurfacing the parking lot told Mr. Greenstein he had to park elsewhere.

It seems Ross Greenstein was incensed by the inconvenience and returned to the lot on foot. According to the police report, Mr. Greenstein lifted his shirt to show his gun and informed the parking lot worker that he only needed to feel threatened to use it.

If this is how Ross Greenstein responded to a minor inconvenience how will he respond to disagreements with school board members, the superintendent, parents or members of the community?

As citizens of Chelsea we cannot forget the tragedy in our schools that occurred in 1993 when another man with a gun was unable to manage his anger.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Ross was let off with a warning when he threatened that man with his gun. But his actions that day are a warning to us when we head to the polls on November 8th.

If Mallie, Golding and Piatt continue to stand with Greenstein then we know what they stand for as well. For those who have already made the mistake of voting for this slate of candidates, it is not too late to spoil your ballot and cast a safer vote for our community.
