Letter to the Editor: Vote for Drolett, Brushaber

As a Dexter Township resident, I feel the township is in great need of new leadership. That is why I’m asking you to vote for Jim Drolett for Township Supervisor and Libby Brushaber for Township Treasurer.

Libby Brushaber has served local government for decades. Libby is currently a Dexter Township Trustee and recently retired as Managing Director of Multi Lakes Sewer Authority. Libby has also served on the Dexter Township Planning Commission and Dexter Area Fire Board. Libby is a long-time resident and brings a lot of experience to the position of Township Treasurer, which I believe is extremely important in handling the tax dollars we entrust to Dexter Township. Dana Bullen has lived in Dexter Township less than one year and she has no experience in local government. In addition, Dana has a full-time job, so she may not generally be available during business hours.

I also support Jim Drolett for Dexter Township Supervisor. I have worked in the Dexter Township office for 12 years and I have seen first-hand how things work and don’t work. I have already announced that I’m retiring on Nov. 20, 2012, so I have nothing to gain by taking a position, other than being very concerned for the direction of Dexter Township leadership. That is why I support Jim Drolett. I have known Jim for many years. Jim will restore openness and transparency to the supervisor’s office.

In addition to his decades of experience in local government, Jim has the characteristics I’m looking for in an elected official.
•    Jim is someone you can trust to give you all the facts, not just the ones that support his position.
•    Jim is always fair in dealing with people – public and employees alike.
•    Jim is genuine – he won’t smile and say one thing to your face, but something different behind your back.
•    Jim is a team player, not a “one man show”.
•    Jim is a “uniter”, not a “divider”.
•    Jim’s character is what I expect in Township leadership.
If I planned on moving out of Dexter Township in the near future, I would not be typing this, but I plan on living here for the rest of my life, so fair, honest, experienced township leadership is important to me.
For more information about Jim Drolett, please check his website.
Thank you very much for your time.
