Lima Township Board approves Trinkle Road hill project

Lima Township Hall

By Lisa Carolin

There was disagreement at the June 8 Lima Township Board meeting about whether or not to proceed with the Trinkle Road hill project.

According to Lima Supervisor Craig Maier, a number of people spoke up against the project because it will involve taking down close to 33 trees.

The board unanimously approved the project due to what Maier described as, “a hazardous area offering limited sight distance.”

Work on the project will not begin before October, and will include cutting the hill down approximately four feet, widening the roadway to 22 feet, and improving drainage.

The Lima Township Board also discussed a list of designers and architects to contact regarding proposals for the new Lima Township Hall. Maier said that he hopes selections can be made at the board’s July meeting but doesn’t expect work to begin until spring of 2021.

  1. Oh, Jeez, there are trees on Trinkley Rd., Who Knew? Maybe drive a little slower with more caution.

  2. Not really accurate. The project is contingent on receiving drawings and bids from the road commission and the board reviewing them. If the price is not acceptable, the project won’t go.

  3. It is an extremely dangerous hill east of the high school and west of Fletcher road. Go drive it for yourself and while you at it imagine you are a young inexperienced driver on a snowy day meeting a school bus coming the other way. I am surprised that no one has been killed over the years.

    • Slow down and pay attention to what you are doing! Pretty road and I drove school bus for years around there with no problems other than ice.

  4. Turning onto or off of Trinkle from Hurst is pretty dangerous. I think this is a worthy project.

  5. If you are going to fix anything on Trinkle Rd., how about the ” Dukes of Hazard” jump on Trinkle and Lima Center Rd.
