Lima Township friends throw party, guests bring donations for Faith in Action

Next time you’re planning a party for neighbors, family and friends, consider making it a benefit for a charity organization.

Lima Township residents Sue Grau, Steve DeWolfe and Rick and Dianne Monier have done just that for the last few years for their 21 and older crowd.

This year, they provided a dinner and asked guests to make a donation to cover the cost of the entertainment and food and asked that guests bring an item to be donated to Faith in Action.

Plus, on the invitations they offered suggestions of what was needed by the Chelsea organization.

“I guess the message in all of this is, if you are going to have a BBQ, neighborhood block party, or a barn party, ask your guests to bring something to donate for those in need,” she said, adding, “It’s painless.”

This year, there were about 200 people at the farm house on a Saturday night and Faith in Action had something to celebrate on Monday morning.

If you’d like to help others in the community who are in need, consider dropping off a donation of your own to Faith in Action. Always needed are non-perishable food items, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, bar soap, body wash. feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, disposable razors and dish soap.
