Michigan Classics Softball and Chelsea Senior Center Pickleball are spreading holiday cheer this month by helping local non-profit organizations.

Every year, this Michigan Classics team participates in the Magic of Xmas Family Foundation which identifies children in Washtenaw County who may need some extra help during the holiday to get presents under the tree. The young athletes of the Chelsea area raise money during the year by doing random fundraisers such as hosting softball clinics to teach grade school age girls or raking leaves for local residents.

The team purchases and wraps the gifts and they are then delivered by local law enforcement to the families in need. The Classics families also purchase and complete a large donation box annually for Chelsea Faith in Action and this year, they gathered needed household cleaning supplies to go to families.

A great addition this season, the Chelsea Senior Center Pickleball club kicked in some extra funds from their holiday pickleball fundraiser to the softball team charity efforts. They contributed a large donation so more gifts could be purchased for more children as well as matching the supplies for Chelsea Faith in Action.

Back in the spring, it is not a coincidence that the softball team learned how to play the growing sport of pickleball during a team-building event. The Michigan Classics coach is part of both clubs, so she said it only made sense to work together to share a passion for teamwork by doubling the effort to give back twice as much to these amazing local charities.

She said both clubs are filled with amazing generous people and it is great to combine as a much larger group to help out others.

The Magic of Xmas was founded by former LPGA tour player Debbie Williams- Hoak. Donations and more information can be found on: https://magicofchristmasfoundation.org/

Faith in Action is also is always accepting donations of various items. Feel free to reach out to the director at (734) 475-3305 for any specific needs.
