Lyndon Township Board, Planning Commission, ZBA hold joint meeting

The Lyndon Township Board, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals held a joint meeting on Feb. 25 to review the 2020 zoning and planning activity, discuss potential zoning text amendments for this year and look at the township’s fee schedule.

Zoning Administrator Scott Pacheco said 65 permits were issued in 2020, up 14 percent from the previous year, despite the current pandemic. He said most were for remodeling projects.

There were five code enforcement requests last year, most around Sugar Loaf Lake.

In addition, the Planning Commission held 10 public hearings and the ZBA held seven public meetings.

After discussing proposed amendments to several sections of the township’s zoning ordinances and codes, the Township Board unanimously voted to request the Planning Commission, zoning administrator and planning consultant look at revisions to the township’s dangerous building ordinance as well as its regulations for short-term rentals, it’s wireless communications rules and regulations and its farmland preservation ordinances.

In addition, the Township Board is expected to review possible changes to its fee schedule at a future meeting.
