The First Congregational Church players will present “Murder on the Rerun” on March 20-21 at the church at 121 East Middle Street at 7 p.m.

The play, written by Fred Carmichael, is a satirical and comedic look at Hollywood and the ambitious people who live there. Actors, a director, a writer and even a gossip columnist converge at the Vermont ski lodge of Hollywood producer, Stanzio Garelli for the weekend. All have career opportunities in mind.

When the curtain rises we find Jane, an Oscar winning writer, dead at the bottom of the stairs at a ski lodge.  Her four friends and husband are saying she fell but did she? Her ghost rises aided by Kitty, her heavenly adviser, Jane is brought ahead three years to the present.  Kitty brings together the same group that was there when she died, and they are all famous film makers with intense love-hate relationships.

The five suspects join to keep a possible murder quiet for reasons of their own, but their relationships bust apart with their mutual mistrust woven through the suspense in a humorous and revealing comedy.  This is a whodunit with many surprises and a wild set of characters.

The cast includes Deb Borders, Heather Hunnell, Jeanne Caselli, Tomi Dres, Kate Shrosbree, Jane Shrosbree and Mike Powers.

Directed by Doug Beaumont and assisted by stage manager Alena Borders.

No tickets needed. There will be a “Free Will” basket for donations to benefit our summer Mission Trip. The performances will be followed by a lovely dessert reception hosted by the Fellowship Committee.
