May 11: Ballet Chelsea’s ‘The Five Dancing Princesses’ at Potter Center

Ballet Chelsea’s “The Five Dancing Princesses” will dance their way into your heart at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11 in Potter Center’s Harold Sheffer Music Hall.

“The Five Dancing Princesses” is an original full-length ballet and Artistic Director Wendi DuBois’s light-hearted interpretation of the Grimm Brothers’ tale, “The Twelve Dancing Princesses.” Set to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, DuBois’s choreography tells the story in an unforgettable manner.

Ballet Chelsea builds strong individuals through high caliber training and performance excellence while giving back to the audience that supports them through arts education and community outreach. Dancers join us from Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, and the surrounding areas in southeastern Michigan.

Ballet Chelsea was formed in 1995 to provide supplemental dance training and performance opportunities to young dancers in Chelsea. Since that time Ballet Chelsea’s membership, programming and performance opportunities have greatly expanded. Ballet Chelsea’s company membership has grown to nearly 70 male and female company members from Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Grass Lake, Jackson, Manchester, Stockbridge and Ypsilanti.

Ballet Chelsea established its own facility and dance school, Ballet Chelsea Studios, which opened in August 2014. The studio has more than 300 students.

Tickets for “The Five Dancing Princesses” are $20, $15 and $10.
