Palmer Commons at 222 South Main Street is the place to be Saturday for the Chelsea Farmers Market.

In addition to fresh asparagus, rhubarb, meats and eggs, there will be sticky buns, madeleines, brownies, apple fritters, and M&M cookies among the offerings from the market’s bakers.

One of the new bakers at both Saturday’s and Wednesday’s Chelsea markets is Sweet & Salty, a cookie baking couple from Jackson. This is their first full year of business.

They are Jeff and Joclyn Bertsch, and they sell 13 varieties of cookies including dark chocolate pecan, Reese’s cookies, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip cookies, and M&M cookies.

“We thought it would be a nice family business, something we can do together,” said Jeff Bertsch. “We started with maple raisin cookies, and people told us they were the best they ever had.”

Joclyn Bertsch credits Jeff with doing the majority of the baking, but they share many of the duties including running the booth at the farmers markets.

Saturday market vendors this season will include Brieland Shoultz Farm, Bordine Farms, Goetz Family Farm, Heim Gardens, Jacob’s Fresh Farm Shares, Kapnick Orchards, Lake Divide Farm, Merkel Gardens and Greenhouses, Tantré Farm, Two Tracks Acres, La Baguette, Lakehouse Bakery, Stone Hearth Bakery, Sweet & Salty (cookies), Raterman (sourdough bread), Fluffy Bottom Creamery, Para Para Creamery, H&H Sugarbush, LLC, Shoreline Wild Salmon, Affeathermations, Awakened Provisions, Bristle’s Handmade and Homegrown, Debbie’s Beads, Lavender and Honey Herbal Apothecary, Country Hills Pottery, Elderwoods, Hoppy Soap, Holdwick, Santa Rosa Watercolors, Smellz so Good (candles), Thistle Blossom Herbal, and Roaming Goat hot food.
