Chelsea quilt artist, author and local business owner Lynn Carson Harris will present a lecture and trunk show, “Do It for the Process” at the Greater Ann Arbor Quilt Guild meeting on Saturday, May 18.

The meeting starts at 9:15 a.m.at the Morris Lawrence Building, Washtenaw Community College, 4800 East Huron River Dr., and admission is $10 at the door.

Harris will share her collection of original quilts and talk about how her thrifty upbringing on a farm led to her current style of working with scraps and the desire to use “every last piece.”

Her quilts have been juried into international shows and gallery exhibits and her work is in private collections around the world. Lynn is the author of Every Last Piece and has also been published in numerous books and magazines.

Lynn creates art from her studio at 118 South Main St. in downtown Chelsea. Her parents grew up on farms and, like the little red hen in the children’s story, she was taught to do things from scratch and to never let anything go to waste.

Harris’ “Do It for the Process” lecture follows the business meeting on Quilt Day.
