Plan to spend part of your Saturday morning at the Chelsea Farmers Market.
It runs every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Palmer Commons on Main Street.
It’s the perfect time of year to fill your garden with the large selection of perennial and annual plants for sale at the market as well as veggie and herb starts.
You’ll also find hanging baskets in a multitude of colors.
Fresh vegetables are now for sale and include lettuces, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, mushrooms and more.
In addition, chocolates are for sale and a variety of baked goods including breads, cakes, and cookies.
The Cookie Lady, Tracey Abrams, is a new vendor at the Saturday market and comes from the east side of Grass Lake. She sells cookies that include white chocolate caramel pretzel cookies, monster bars, and chocolate no bakes. What started as a hobby is now something she enjoys doing in her home kitchen. She says the folks in Chelsea have been friendly and welcoming. Don’t miss her homemade dog treats.
There will also be music at the market this week – World Music with Andjru. Andrew Werderitsch uses African and Latin percussion instruments inspired by nature, indigenous music and dance to play world music, folk music, and jazz.
There is a new regional (Chelsea, Grass Lake, Manchester and Stockbridge) food assistance program to help get healthy market food on the tables of those in need. It’s aimed at folks who don’t quite meet SNAP criteria. Be sure to inquire at the market.
