MDOT courtesy patrols to begin in area Feb. 1

The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin providing courtesy patrols for drivers who need assistance in Washtenaw County on Friday, Feb. 1.

According to a press release from MDOT, there will be two patrol zones: one on US-23 between Brighton and Ann Arbor and the other includes US-23, M-14 and I-94.

Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton’s Metro Dispatch leadership team met last week with MDOT’s implementation group to coordinate services and to establish several communications methods that will assure a timely response to motorists that may be broken down on the freeway.

While MDOT is unable to provide this service 24/7, a commitment has been made to operate courtesy patrols during peak travel times on weekdays and weekends – including during special events such as U-M football games.
