MDOT plans M-52 road work beginning June 23

road constructionThe Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) soon will be performing maintenance work on M-52 from Sibley Road north 8.44 miles to the Washtenaw County line.

The work, which is scheduled to begin about June 23, could take up to 4 weeks to complete.

Residential driveways will only be closed for short periods of time while the contractors are working directly in front of their homes.

Included in the work is cold milling, microsurfacing and two coats of pavement markings, according to information from MDOT.

Due to lane closures, flagmen will be controlling traffic.

The contract requires that one-lane must remain open at all times.

In addition, there is no guarantee that one direction will be completed before work begins on the other direction.

MDOT will cease work July 24, 25, and 26 for the Sights and Sounds Festival and if necessary, Aug.  23 for the Chelsea Community Fair Parade.
