The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is alerting folks to a new phone scam that involves a call from an attorney attempting to collect a debt.
The scam artist is reportedly posing as an attorney and will call the potential victim and claim that they have defaulted on a loan. The scammer then gets persistent with the victim and claims that unless they make good on their debt they will be arrested.
In the most recent attempted scam, the subject posing as an attorney claimed he was from “Legal Litigation.”
Please, do not give out any personal information over the phone and never send money as this isn’t the course of action one would take if you defaulted on a loan.
