On Monday, Nov. 16, the Chelsea Kiwanis will host a division council meeting instead of the club’s regular meeting.
Michigan Kiwanis clubs are divided into divisions, each led by a lieutenant governor. Division 6 includes clubs from Ann Arbor, Whitmore Lake, Brighton, Hamburg, Howell, Novi, South Lyon and Chelsea.
Lt. Governor Jacqueline Otto will conduct the meeting. Club members expect to be updated on the activities of our neighboring clubs as well as news from the Michigan District of Kiwanis.
Last Monday, Trinh Pifer, executive director of the Chelsea Senior Center told members about the three priorities of the Chelsea Senior Center.
- Advocate for expansion of transportation options for older adults.
- Promote the use of technology.
- Ensure financial and human resources exist for continued programming.
She told us about the plans for the Rural Older Adults in Motion program that will connect folks with rides 24/7, with one call to the Senior Center, using multiple transportation services.
The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to enjoy our speakers and learn about Kiwanis.
