Pianos, art supplies, pottery wheels, furniture, computers, a large collection of art books, and much more will be auctioned off at the Chelsea Center for the Arts’ building, 400 Congdon St. on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The auction will be conducted by Joseph Merkel, of Merkel’s Auction Specialist, Inc., of Chelsea.  The auction can be viewed here.

In a letter on the website dated July 16, the CCA Board of Directors stated, “It is with great sadness that we inform you that the CCA has ceased operations and closed the building due to financial hardship effective immediately.”

Since that time, music instructors have been re-locating their studios to churches, storefronts, and homes.

“This has been a difficult process for everyone involved,” says Shannon Kuchera, CCA board president. “We invite everyone to come out to the auction – whether it is to support the CCA one last time, or to visit a place where so many people found their creative home over the last 16 years. Everyone is welcome.”
