Pet grooming, veterinary services still restricted

File photo. Lane Animal Hospital staff get vital information about a pet before it is taken into the animal hospital for a scheduled appointment.

Lane Animal Hospital reminds folks that veterinary and pet grooming services are still restricted under Executive Orders 2020-34 and 2020-77.

These orders are in place to protect the public and veterinary staff, partially due to the PPE shortage humans and veterinarian’s currently face.

Until these orders are lifted, veterinarians are limited to providing only essential services for pets. These are determined by the veterinarian, so reach out to staff with questions for your pets.

If you haven’t been able to keep up with the current Michigan phased opening, we are currently in Phase 3 of Governor Whitmer’s 6 phase plan to reopen the state.

According to recent comments, pet grooming may be permitted to open when Phase 4 is initiated. We are cautiously optimistic that this will be the case on May 29, however, we must await further guidance.

Only Lane Animal Hospital essential staff members may enter the building and staff is offering car-side concierge service. As always, drop-off service for your pets is also available. Medications can be brought out to your car or can be places in a contactless designated bin.

Call to refill your prescription or place a special order, they can be paid for over the phone after the doctor has approved them.

Lane Animal Hospital remains committed to the pets we treat, the clients who have been so loyal to us, our staff and their families, and the community of Chelsea.

Please reach out to the hospital directly with additional questions and concerns. We are hopeful, that with appropriate precautions and safety measures, we will all stay healthy and safe.
