PTO: this year’s fundraising efforts served many needs

Bulldog logo The Chelsea PTO Board of Directors reminds parents (and other residents) to continue saving box tops even though school is not in session. (There’s a box inside Polly’s Country Market for those who don’t have children in the schools but would like to help.)

During the school year, more than $6,200 was raised and children were rewarded with three parties this year through this program that’s geared for K-8 schools. Each school has the potential to earn $20,000 through this program according to information from the PTO.

Through the schools’ fundraising efforts, which include the box top program, the fun run and cash donations, the PTO funded the following events, programs and equipment:

  • Bus driver appreciation
  • Child care during PTO meetings
  • Family game night
  • Friends dance
  • Geo/science night
  • Educational grants for teachers
  • Ice cream social
  • Reading night
  • Pastries for parents
  • PA systems
  • Staff appreciation meals
  • Assemblies
  • March is Reading Month
  • Playground balls and equipment
  • Teach appreciation gifts
  • Student planners
  • Classroom supplies

Because of these fundraisers, the PTO had a budget of $19,000, and the Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who participated.

The 2013-14 PTO Board is made up of Aubree Shemwell, president, Nichol Warriner, North Creek vice president, Brandon Black, South Meadows vice president, Jack Atkinson, treasurer, Kelly Stoker, secretary, Hilarie Conley, member at large, Dana Emmert, member at large and Deb Boham, teacher representative.
