Although I’m writing this before the next round of snow is supposed to begin falling, based on the traffic and number of cars parked in downtown Chelsea Saturday, the community is taking the forecast (of up to 10 more inches, followed by super cold weather this week) to heart.

So, this is a good time to admit it. I love snow as much as my dogs do.

However, as a one-woman news source, I also have to be very careful driving in it if the roads aren’t adequately cleared and relatively safe. Should I get hurt, there is no Chelsea Update.

And although the Chelsea Department of Public Works does a wonderful job of clearing the city’s roads, I live in Sylvan Township and sometimes due to lack of traffic and lack of Washtenaw County Road Commission resources, the roads out here aren’t cleared as well and I have to take that into account before I venture out.

That said here’s what to expect this week.

Coverage is planned of the Chelsea City Council, which meets Monday night at 7 p.m. in the new police building, and there will be an advance story of what’s on the agenda published Monday.

And, the Sylvan Township Board meets Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Township Hall and an advance story is planned for Tuesday morning.

In addition, coverage is also planned for the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority board  meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the new police building.

Chelsea Superintendent of Schools Andy Ingall will take another field trip to a school with me this week to provide you with a look at what happens after your child exits the school bus.

Also, everyone’s invited to Dr. Art Tremper‘s ‘semi-retirement’ open house at Lane Animal Hospital on Saturday from 1-4 p.m.

A big thank you to readers who have donated to Chelsea Update during the holidays. Please, remind your friends and neighbors to check out Chelsea Update and if they like what they see, ask them to donate as well, because I really need the community’s help to continue to make this my full-time job.

As a reminder, I have no corporate backing, Chelsea Update belongs solely to me, and I am trying to make a living bringing the Chelsea community all the news that’s fit to post. Checks of any amount should be made out to Chelsea Update and sent to 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea MI 48118. Or, you can also make a donation through Paypal.

And now, on with the news of 2014, and your most extensive coverage to date. Please enjoy.
