Publisher’s column: without you, Chelsea Update would not exist

Once again, I wanted to publicly thank this community and all the readers of Chelsea Update who look to this daily news source as a place to get your Chelsea news.

I work very hard to make sure that everything you read on this site is accurate, even if it means that you might have to wait a day or two before a story’s published. And if I do make a mistake, I make sure that it’s noted on the story and quickly corrected. I’ve already got almost 45 years in this business and am hoping for 50 years (or more), so publishing accurate information is extremely personal to me.

To do this, I’m also forced to periodically write these “begging” columns. I force myself to do so a couple times a year to remind readers that publishing Chelsea Update seven days a week, 365 days a year is my full-time job and it’s the only income that Ryan, Buzz and I have. The wonderful advertisers are a major reason that I’m able to continue to bring you all the news that’s fit to publish about Chelsea, but we count on readers to help out as well.

So, while you are thinking about it, please consider making a donation of any amount to our efforts. And remember, these donations are not tax-deductible, but very much appreciated. You can donate through PayPal or by sending a check made out to Chelsea Update and mailed to 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea MI 48118.

The following people have recently donated to my efforts. And to all of you, I am so, so thankful.

  • Edward and Joan Driscoll
  • Chelsea Kiwanis
  • Linda DeLand
  • Malinda McCain
  • Tori Kinsey
  • Jenn Ridley
  • Janice Webster
  • Catherine Guinan
