Publisher’s Message: Chelsea Update Has a New Staff Member

Meet Aidan, Chelsea Update’s new staff member.

Chelsea Update has a new full-time staff member.

And he will need a lot of training to learn all of his varied and important responsibilities in his multi-faceted role as little brother and pal to 9.5 year old Buzz, Chelsea Update staff member, and future rally and obedience show dog.

I’m counting on Buzz to help lay the groundwork as we become a household of three again. And once again, following the death of Ryan two years ago, I am outnumbered by four-legged furry family members.

Buzz and I picked up our new staff member, Aidan, Wednesday. (For readers who follow Michigan or Lions football, he’s named after former Michigan Heisman runner-up defensive football player, and current Detroit Lion Aidan Hutchinson, who is also a Plymouth, Mich. native.)

Aidan plays patty-cake.

His fancy AKC name is yet to be determined, but it will have something to do with football, so if you have any suggestions, I’m all ears. Email me at [email protected]. I’ve been bouncing around a few ideas such as Gridiron Guy, Football Fan, Quarterback Sack, and Misdirection.

I will keep readers posted as we settle into our new routines, and I do everything I can to cram as many training exercises and new experiences as possible into his little brain. Puppies are little sponges at this stage in their lives. And for show dogs, this is a crucial time to open their eyes to the world outside of this house and property.

That said, and I’m sure everyone who has had a new puppy enter their lives can attest to, it’s a lot of work. With a show dog, double that. So, please be patient with me when I don’t get back to you as quickly as you are used to, or there aren’t as many stories published on Chelsea Update.

For the next few months, and for the first time in 10 years, Chelsea Update will take a back seat in my life — while little Aidan and Buzz share the front seat.
