Publisher’s Message: Come Watch Buzz Show in Monroe

This will be a short work week for Buzz and I as we are headed to the Monroe County Fairgrounds, 3775 S. Cluster Road (M-50) in Monroe Friday and Saturday for two large all breed dog shows that include special shows just for Buzz’s breed – Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.

From Chelsea, it’s an easy hour-ish trip.

On Friday, there are about 1,300 total dogs entered and that includes about 70 Tollers, then on Saturday, that total number of dogs climbs to about 1,890 dogs and about 74 Tollers.

So, if you’ve ever wanted a close by dog show where you can cheer us on and see lots of different breeds of dogs, this is the place to do so. Most of them will be competing in conformation classes – like you see at Westminster. Buzz will compete in the performance event of Rally obedience. But there will be dogs competing in dock diving and other canine sports as well.

We show inside the air-conditioned First Merchant Bank Expo Center on Friday at about 8:40 a.m., then about 9:20 and for a third time at about 10 a.m. Look for the ring with a course of signs placed on the ground.

If you want to sleep in, Saturday, his classes begin at about 11:30, then at noon with his third class to follow.

If you decide to attend, there is a fee to park at the beautiful show site and I’d recommend you bring your own chair as well.

Be sure to find us and say hello.

These shows will be an opportunity for us to reconnect with friends we haven’t seen in years thanks to COVID and it’s the reason I chose to show here instead of the Rally National Championships, which are taking place in Ohio.

So if you don’t see a lot of stories on Chelsea Update those days, this is why.

We’re off having some fun and I’ll get back to you once we get back. Send good luck our way if you aren’t able to attend.

And, of course, I’ll update you on our show results as well.
