I cannot begin to thank everyone for their outpouring of condolences following Buzz’s death on June 23.
I read each and every one of your emails and Facebook messages and cards, and I am ever so gratified that he touched so many of you, whether you’d met him in the fur or not.
But what’s equally gratifying were the messages from folks who are facing the same tough decision that I did. And to know that even in death, Buzz may have been the catalyst for other beloved pets to be helped out of pain, and moved toward the Rainbow Bridge.
It’s been said that if this decision is something you’ve been thinking about, then it’s probably time to make that gut-wrenching call. So, if Buzz is able to help all the better.
Perhaps, a day too soon rather than a day too late.
I want to believe that Buzz is responsible for something else that’s near and dear to my heart. I am seeing more hummingbirds in my garden since his passing. It seems that whenever I go outside to tend to the garden, a hummingbird stops by to visit.
This year has been quite sparse when it comes to the number of hummer regulars. But this seems to be the case across the country. And, no, it’s not just because the females are on nests at this time of year. There have been less hummers here last year as well as this year.
But, it appears that those numbers are growing as we get further into the summer months.
Perhaps this is a good time to update everyone on how Aidan and I are doing. There’s good news on that front. We are navigating our new normal moment by moment, hour by hour and day by day. And so far, Mr. Aidan is enjoying all the individual attention, training and spoiling he’s been getting. Plus, as my eye heals, it helps that I’m able to actually do more physically, too.
Suffice it to say that Aidan has a LOT more energy than Buzz. In fact, just the other day, we did some sniffing training, and some Rally and Obedience training in the basement. When I came upstairs, an hour had gone by. I was shocked that he was still game to do more, so do more we did. It was off to a walkabout around the property.
After that, we both napped. Smile.
So, while I hopefully still have your attention, I’d also like to thank the following people who have made donations to the ongoing operations of Chelsea Update. Some in Buzz’s honor, which made them even more special.
Everyone’s support is so appreciated, and it’s allowed me to concentrate on healing while still bringing you the daily news. Thank you everyone – for all of your kindness. And your patience as I’m quite tardy with this thank you.
So, if you’d like to contribute to the ongoing daily publication of Chelsea Update, you can make a donation in any amount through the donate button on the home page of the news site, or send a check in any amount made out to Chelsea Update and mail it to 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118.
