I’m closing in on six weeks retina post-surgery, so it’s time for another update.
Healing continues on track – according to a childhood friend who is a retina specialist, and he has given me a number of milestones to “look for.”
He also tells me like it is, and warned me at the start this health mess that it would be three months of hell.
I can see “well enough” to do some dog training and hop on “Old Faithful” (my small lawn tractor) to do a wee bit of mowing. But, my energy level seems to still be stuck in second gear.
I’m still walking away from screens when my eyes get tired; and I’m still relying on friends for full property mowing and lifting anything heavy.
I can’t thank my friends enough for transportation, mowing, lifting and toting, and above all – their continued patience with me. As anyone close to me will tell you – I have not handled any of this very well. And my frustration level is pegged at a solid 8.5 the longer it takes to fully heal.
Yet, I continue to bring you the news daily. So please understand it’s a genuine struggle – especially at a time when there is so much happening in Chelsea. Pretty please continue to email me your information with as much lead time as possible.
And, in trying my best to work through this, I’ve made my share of very uncharacteristic mistakes during the last couple of weeks and for that I am truly sorry.
Prolonged screen time really exhausts me both mentally and visually, so I’m jumping on and off my laptop – trying valiantly to get everything published, while continuing along the long and winding path to full vision in both eyes.
Plus, I’m very behind thanking everyone for their support of Chelsea Update, for the get well cards, prayers and offers of help.
I truly hope everyone understands how special this Chelsea Community is. It’s comprised of an amazing group of folks who never fail to rally together when one of us is in need. All you need to do is ask for help and it will appear – sometimes from the most unlikely people and places.
While I still have your attention, I’d also like to thank the following people for their support of Chelsea Update during the last several months. I’m way behind on thank you notes and on public acknowledgements of this community’s generosity.
If you’d like to join them and make a non-tax deductible donation to show your support of the continuation of your daily local news site, please go to the support tab on the home page and make a donation through Paypal. Or, you can also make out a check in any amount to Chelsea Update and mail it to 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118.
