Publisher’s message: Tuesday City Council election, newsletters and donations

A little of this and a little of that for readers this first Sunday in November.

If you live in the city, please take the time to vote on Tuesday. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and there are a large number of candidates on the ballot who want to represent you on City Council. The future direction of Chelsea is in your hands, so please make your vote count.

Ann-FeeneyOne City Council member who has chosen not to run for office is Ann Feeney, and I want to take a moment to thank her for the many years and the countless hours she’s given to the city as both an elected official and a volunteer.

When I moved to this area almost 14 years ago and began covering Chelsea, I knew no one here. But I met Ann and she would always take the time after meetings to answer my many questions. And take my phone calls. Sometimes late at night. Sometimes early in the morning.

Ann always knew the best people to talk to about a story. And it is because of her wealth of historical perspective that I was able to understand and accurately cover the village and now the city for so many years. She’s been a constant and friendly face on council, and I’m sure going to miss seeing her twice a month on the dais.

I’ve had a number of people ask me about stories that they’ve somehow missed seeing. I think it’s because I’ve been posting so many news items each day. But, there’s an easy (and free) way to find out what the new headlines are each day. You can subscribe to the daily newsletter, which arrives in your email inbox about 1 p.m. It’s free to subscribe and easy to do. Look at the top right-hand side of the home page and type your email in the box under subscribe.

Although Chelsea Update is free for readers, I’ve made writing, editing and photographing it my full-time job. This news source has no corporate backing, it’s locally owned and published by me. So if you are enjoying what you read each day, please make a donation in any amount by sending a check made out to Chelsea Update to Lisa Allmendinger, publisher, 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118 or through Pay Pal.

Reader donations and advertiser support are what allow me to continue publishing this Chelsea-centric news source for the community.
