Purple Rose Theatre Company to hold open auditions April 22-23 for 2013/14 season

The Purple Rose Theatre Company will hold general auditions for roles in its 2013/2014 season on Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Auditions will be held at the Theatre Company, 137 Park St. and appointments are required. These appointments can be made beginning Monday, April 1 by calling the PRTC Administration Office at 433-7782, Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Both equity and non-equity actors are encouraged to audition.

Actors will be asked to perform a 1-minute contemporary comedic monologue and should bring a current headshot and resume to the audition.

The Theatre Company is seeking male actors ages 21 and older, and female actors ages 15 and older for roles in the upcoming season.

Callbacks for specific roles in specific productions will be held at a later date, and actors will be notified by phone if they are being invited to callbacks.

If an actor is unable to attend general auditions, he/she may submit a current headshot and resume to the attention of Guy Sanville, artistic director, Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park St., Chelsea, Michigan 48118.

The 2013/2014 Season will include The Vast Difference by Jeff Daniels, Redwood Curtain by Lanford Wilson, 2 A.Z. a world premiere by Michael Brian Ogden, and a fourth play to be announced at a later date.

The Theatre Company operates under an SPT Tier 8 contract with Actors’ Equity Association and employs both equity and non-equity actors. The current Equity salary is $449 per week.

Founded in 1991 by acclaimed actor and Chelsea native Jeff Daniels, the Theatre Company is a leading American theatre dedicated to producing the new American play and creating opportunities for Midwest theatre professionals.

It is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional theatre operating under a Small Professional Theatre agreement with the Actors’ Equity Association.
