Purple Rose Theatre given OK for fundraiser on public parking lot

The Purple Rose Theatre Company was given unanimous approved recently by the Chelsea City Council for a Backyard BBQ in the public parking lot behind the theater.

As per city ordinance, the City Council must give its permission for private events held in public areas.

The fundraising event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 3, beginning at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour, silent auction and entertainment.

A buffet dinner starts at 6 p.m. and there a “sneak peak of the Season 2013/14,” the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit and the Mosaic Singers perform beginning of 6:30 p.m.

From 7-7:30 p.m., there will be more entertainment, a live auction and the silent auction tables close.

At 8 p.m. is a performance of the current play “Miles & Ellie” followed by coffee and dessert.

The cost is $60 per person for the BBQ portion of the evening. If you’d like to attend both the BBQ and the play, it’s 100 per person. Table of 10 can be reserved for $1,000.

In addition, there will be a selection of summer wines for sale at $25 per bottle.
