Chelsea Kiwanis Club Service Leadership Dinner (with Slideshow)

Ray Kemner was honored recently by Chelsea Cub Scouts.

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

On Nov. 29, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club held its annual Service Leadership Dinner. All members of the Kiwanis family were celebrated for their service to the community.

Members of Chelsea’s Cub Scout Pack and two Boy Scout Troops were on hand to pay special tribute to Ray Kemner.

Kemner also received the J. Douglas Alexander Award from the Michigan District of Kiwanis in recognition of his tireless work for Kiwanis over the years. Many of those attending shared stories of appreciation for him, and what he has meant to them for so long.

Members of St. Louis Center’s Aktion Club told us about their annual sale of Christmas cards. Many members of this club, whose members are intellectually and developmentally challenged, are working jobs in the community.

Chelsea High School’s Key Club members spoke about their recent leaf raking project to help seniors in Chelsea. They plan to set an example for their peers by focusing on spreading much needed acts of kindness around the school and community.

On Nov. 22, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Terris Ahrens and Denise Cugliari from the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce. They outlined the many events scheduled for this month in Chelsea. Please check the website chelseamich.com for details.
