Geologist Larry Bean will present “Rockhound Basics” on Sunday, June 2 from 2-3:30 p.m. at a local quarry, but participants will meet at the Gerald E. Eddy Discover Center in Sylvan Township.
Discover what you can learn about ancient Michigan from looking at a rock. Bean will show you how to “read” the story told by rocks and help you to identify specimens at a local quarry.
Participants will meet at the Discovery Center before driving to the quarry to do some collecting.
The cost is $2 per person or $5 for a family.
The Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center is located at 17030 Bush Road.
Advance registration is requested by calling 734-475-3170.
