The Rotary Club of Chelsea recently bid farewell to outgoing President Ginger Sissom and welcomed President-elect Bill Harmer at the home of Gary and Carole Zenz.

Many club members bid farewell and said thank you to Sissom for creating, implementing and carrying out a strategic plan. This plan has revolutionized how the Rotary Club of Chelsea views it short-term and long-term goals; both locally and internationally.

“There’s a great deal more to the Strategic plan but the above-mentioned statement succinctly describes the overall attributes of the plan,” Taylor says, adding, “She will also be remembered for asking the membership to take on more active roles in various projects.”

But, it was Sissom’s smile and contagious positive attitude that most of us admired the most, he says.

Her crowning achievement, he says, is when she created the tag name “Best Rotary Club in America,” otherwise known as “BRCIA”.

She wasn’t far off the mark in making such a bold pronouncement, Taylor says.

“We constantly hear from visiting Rotarian and guests that our club is the most fun and friendly club they’ve ever visited,” He says, adding, “We’re told that we have a sense of community and generosity that separates us from other clubs.”

Now it’s Harmer’s turn to take on the role as president and he has big shoe’s to fill.

But, all one has to do is walk into the library and see the magnificent work he’s done during his tenure as director the Chelsea District Library, Taylor says.

“Bill has transformed the Chelsea District Library into national treasure — a favorite destination for locals to expand their minds.”

He hopes to expand on our International projects as a whole and while partnering with other agencies, to expand on our effectiveness, Taylor says.

“On behalf of The Best Rotary Club of America, I’d like to thank Ginger Sissom for her dedication of service to Rotary,” Taylor says, adding, “I’d like to wish Bill Harmer all the best in his new role as president of the Rotary Club of Chelsea.”

You can visit the club’s Facebook page to get additional information and updates.

In addition, if you’d like to meet the Rotary members, they meet every Tuesday from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at the Common Grill.
